questionable spokespersons

Turkish Shampoo-Maker Under Fire for Using Hitler As Spokesperson

The only thirteen-second spot for a men’s shampoo brand dubs language over a fiery Hitler speech that translates to, “[this product is] a 100 percent male shampoo,” and “If you are not wearing a woman’s dress, you should not use her shampoo either.”

Obviously, Jewish organizations in Turkey and elsewhere are furious that a brand peddling shampoo resurrected Hitler as its spokesperson. National Director of the the U.S.-based Anti-Defamation League and Holocaust survivor Abraham H. Foxman called the ad a “disgusting and deplorable marketing ploy.”

The ad is probably the work of a bonehead in Turkey who wanted to test whether all publicity is good publicity. That, or the company is angling for the niche market of young men who heed hygiene instructions from maniacs who led mass genocides.
