The New Republic Tears Down Paywall

Moving opposite some of the country’s largest newspapers, the 98-year-old New Republic announced today that all recent online content will be free on its website. It’s the first major move under 28-year-old Chris Hughes, who bought the magazine this month and installed himself as both publisher and editor-in-chief. Previously, Hughes co-founded Facebook and organized online for the Obama campaign, so he seems to have a few big ideas about the Internet.
