The police are still hunting for the man responsible for the death Joshua Basin, the 20-year-old Queens man who was killed at the Bedford subway stop on Friday night. The suspect, who witnesses say yelled “It’s showtime” before hitting Basin and knocking him onto the tracks and fleeing the scene, was described as 30ish and about six-feet-tall. The victim’s mother, Zena Basin, has since issued a plea for the person responsible to come forward: “Whoever it is out there, whoever did it — please, turn yourself in.”
Assuming he chooses not to, the public now at least has a better idea of who they’re looking for: As anyone who has ridden the L in the last day can tell you, a wanted poster, complete with a sketch of a scraggly haired man with pockmarked cheeks, has become a ubiquitous feature of the stations along the train’s route. The poster encourages anyone with information about the crime to get in touch with the 94th Precinct though, somewhat curiously, it lacks a phone number with which to do so.
