“Is that like Two Girls, One Cup?” Intel Dan asked when we alerted him to the existence of a viral video called “Santorum Girls.” No, it’s in fact nothing like that. It is an answer of sorts to 2008 Obama Girl video: Two wholesomely pretty young women, who just so happen to be the daughters of a pair of Oklahoma pastors, sing about why Rick Santorum is what our country’s been waiting for. (“We’ve got a man who understands that God gave the Bill of Rights.”)
The girls are Camille, 20, and Haley, 18, and they’re backed by First Love, their family band, which makes the Partridge Family sound like Black Sabbath. The most risque moment is when one of the girls vamps with a pair of sunglasses, or perhaps when they sing, “He’s faithful to his wife and seven children.” Best rhyme scheme? “There is hope for our nation again/Maybe the first time since we had Ronald Rea-GAN.”
