Authorities: Al Qaeda May Use ‘Body Bombs’ on U.S.-bound Planes

American and European authorities told ABC News on Monday that Al Qaeda may soon attempt to blow up a U.S.-bound plane with “body bombs,” or explosives implanted somewhere inside a terrorists’ … body. In response to the apparent threat, security has been boosted at U.K., European, and Middle Eastern airports; however, Department of Homeland Security spokesman Peter Boogaard said on on Monday evening, “We have no indication of any specific, credible threats or plots against the U.S. tied to the one-year anniversary of bin Laden’s death.” As for the where, a physician told ABC, “The surgeon would open the abdominal cavity and literally implant the explosive device in amongst the internal organs.”
