Fertilzer and money: separated at birth?
Close on the heels of the very high-profile, possibly tax-sheltering purchase of an $88 million apartment by Dmitry Rybolovlev, Russian fertilizer king, comes news of another Eastern European fertilizer magnate, Alex Rovt, who likes what he sees on American soil. Rovt, a Ukranian by birth, paid cash for a majority stake in 14 Wall Street, a commercial property — $303 million worth of cash, to be exact, which the Times politely describes as “certainly noteworthy.” In the spirit of how the filthy-rich Rovt made his fortune, we’d perhaps have gone with “a huge stinking pile of money.”
