Boehner: I Love You, Romney Dearest

Last month, an adviser to Mitt Romney memorably griped about the stream of half-hearted, oh-well-he’s-inevitable-now endorsements, “‘I’m happy to be with Romney because he’s the nominee’ is like saying, ‘I’m happy to be at the dentist because my tooth hurts.’” Either the complaint didn’t make its way to John Boehner, or Boehner just doesn’t care, because his endorsement today is a classic of the “I will support him because he is a member of my party and a carbon-based life form” genre:

“It is clear now that Mitt Romney is going to be our nominee,” Mr. Boehner said at a news conference that followed his weekly meeting with the House Republican Conference. “I think Mitt Romney has a set of economic policies that can put Americans back to work and, frankly, contrast sharply with the failed economic policies of President Obama.”
