The Center for Health Transformation, a health-care think tank founded by Newt Gingrich in 2003, filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection in an Atlanta federal court on Wednesday. The Washington Post reported that with Gingrich as its chief fund-raiser, the think thank collected about $37 million in donations from pharmaceutical and health-care corporations since its inception. But when the jowled historian sold his ownership interest last year to run for president, the place folded. “There are very few people capable of successfully leading such an organization,” said Rick Tyler, Gingrich’s longtime spokesman. “It’s unfortunate, but not surprising, that without Newt Gingrich’s leadership, the organization failed.” That sure sounds like an endorsement.
