In the future, our grandchildren will respond with disbelief when we explain to them that, when we were younger, it was perfectly normal for people to walk around without glasses that gave you directions, took photos and video, told you the weather, and provided real-time subway updates, which are apparently some of the features Google has begun to test in its augmented-reality glasses, according to a video released today. “That’s not true, Grandpa!” they’ll say. “Quit lying about stuff or we’ll throw you into the Pad-o-matic 9000, a machine that turns old people into iPads, which exists because it is the future.” And we’ll say, “You’re right, we’re sorry. Please don’t turn us into an iPad.”
