John Heilemann on Morning Joe: Fighting the Budget Fight

After President Obama called Paul Ryan’s proposed 2012-2013 budget “thinly veiled social Darwinism” yesterday, today’s Morning Joe panel discussed the stalemate between the Ryan budget and Obama’s counter-budget which earned zero supporters in a House vote last week. “Paul Ryan’s budget will not be passed, and Barack Obama’s vision of a budget will not be passed, so we will have a big debate in 2012 over whose vision of what the budget should look like is the right vision,” Heilemann said. “I think the White House and the Democrats are convinced that if Republicans grab hold of Paul Ryan’s vision, that is a losing proposition for Republicans … The president pokes the bear and watches the bear run further into Paul Ryan’s cave and he is happy about that.”
