Sarah Palin Beat Katie Couric in the Ratings, But Didn’t Add Viewers

Jon Stewart will be happy to hear this: Sarah Palin did not give NBC’s Today show a ratings bump Tuesday. According to preliminary national Nielsen numbers, Today did beat ABC’s Good Morning America again, but its margin of victory — about 350,000 viewers — was actually smaller than usual. (So far this season, Today is beating GMA by an average of 528,000 viewers.) Of course, the downside for GMA is that the presence of Katie Couric on the set once again didn’t produce a win over Today. So far, the Great Morning-Show Smackdown of 2012 is proving to be something of a bust.
