Eliot Spitzer’s old favorite Ashley Dupré has a new project. In the land of milk and honey, a.k.a New Jersey, she’s quietly launched Femme by Ashley, a boutique selling fancy swimsuits and lingerie, but the last thing she’s looking for is more publicity. (The singing and sex column writing seem to have not worked out.) Her boyfriend, though, did convince her to give an exclusive interview to a local blog in order to foster ties with the community, although she declined to have her picture taken. Things have changed!
“I’m very private. People don’t believe that, but I’m a very private person,” she says. “I don’t want that life. I’m not looking to be in the press. I’m just looking to get on with my life.”
Speaking about her decision to set up roots in Red Bank, Dupré insists, “It is like a little mini SoHo, and the people here are great.” The neighborhood is happy to have her: “We are a very diverse town,” says the mayor. “We welcome everyone.” But there will be haters, “whether you’ve been involved in a scandal or not,” Dupré knows. “I’m sure a lot of interesting people are going to walk through those doors.” Like a New York Post photographer, any minute now …
