Buried in the city’s kind-of-scary 911 report is the news that New Yorkers accidentally call the emergency number almost 4 million times a year, or more than 10,000 times a day, thanks to some combination of butt dials, purse fumbles, and snot-nosed kids who just want to see if it works.
