Governor Cuomo signed legislation on Monday pushing New York State’s local and state primaries to Thursday, September 13, from the previously scheduled Tuesday, September 11. Normally the state holds primaries on the second Tuesday after Labor Day, but lawmakers wanted to ensure that New Yorkers could attend commemorative services on the anniversary of the terrorist attacks. Said assembly speaker Sheldon Silver, “I believe that Sept. 11 is a day that people should reflect on what happened.”
