A 54-year-old illegal immigrant from Nigeria who had worked as a security supervisor at Newark Liberty International Airport for two decades was arrested on Monday for allegedly stealing the identity of a man named Jerry Thomas who was killed in Queens in July of 1992. The accused, Bimbo Olumuyiwa Oyewole, apparently became Thomas to conceal his status as an illegal immigrant. Thomas’s murder is unsolved. Officials said that Oyewole entered the United States illegally in 1989 and had been using a birth certificate, a Social Security card, and other documents to adopt Thomas’s identify. Olywole passed multiple background checks by the security company that employed him. So who collects Jerry Thomas’s social security checks?
