Pedro Espada Jr. Found Guity on Four Counts

Wacky former state senator Pedro Espada Jr. was found guilty today on four counts of theft, each carrying a maximum of ten years in prison, and he still faces four more counts including fraud, theft, and conspiracy related to years of alleged wrongdoing at his Bronx health-care nonprofit Soundview. The jury announced their partial verdict, but will continue their eleventh day of contentious deliberations on the rest of the corruption charges against the defiant politician and his son Pedro G. Espada, who also faces eight undecided counts. Last week, while wearing a rosary, Espada Jr. accused prosecutors of employing “evil spiritual powers” against him. It’s working so far.
