Romney and Obama’s Latest Battlefield: Fourth-Tier Soccer Clubs

First it was the super-PACs, vapidly named organizations funneling billions in undisclosed donations to prop up the increasingly vicious political ad wars. Now, the 2012 electoral forces are moving onto their next winning strategy: taking over American soccer. The New York Times’ Goal blog reports that one fútbul-loving Romney donor has emblazoned Romney’s name and campaign slogan — “Believe in America” — on the jerseys of F.C. New York, a National Premier Soccer League team out on Long Island. Get your acts together, Empire State Democrats, before the New York Red Bulls or Brooklyn Italians get Romney-fied as well.
