Bratty Metro-North Operators Just Want to Multitask in Peace

Last week, a Metro-North operator was caught on video flipping through the morning paper during his ride into the city, barely raising his head to mash on some buttons. The MTA said the no-look driving was “obviously not acceptable,” considering the hundreds of passengers hoping to arrive at their destinations alive, but some conductors have countered by covering the windows to their control areas. That, the MTA says, is perfectly acceptable because Metro-North “does not have a policy that either prohibits or encourages train crew members from papering over or otherwise obscuring interior cab windows.” All they want is some privacy to drive and do sudoku as they please! Trust them.
