The ultra-Orthodox Jewish community’s contempt for all things bike-related in Brooklyn unsurprisingly applies to the forthcoming bike-share stations, none of which will be located in south Williamsburg. Unlike the fight over the Bedford Avenue bike lane, they won this battle without much of a fight, although the talking points remain the same: “The women come through on bikes, and they’re not dressed properly,” one Hasidic resident explained. “They’re more naked than clothed.” Consider the war on denim cutoffs reignited for summer.
