Palin Put Romney Off Women for Good

LAKE BUENA VISTA, FL - NOVEMBER 3: Former Alaska governor Sarah Palin speaks during the Republican Party of Florida's fundraising event at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort on November 3, 2011 in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. An “informal Romney adviser” tells First Read that the Sarah Palin trainwreck has made Republicans reluctant to consider another woman for vice-president:

Just how clued in this informal adviser is to the campaign, we can’t know. But other reporting has previously reached the exact same conclusion. Last month, a “Republican official familiar with the campaign’s thinking” told Mike Allen and Jim Vandehei that the campaign was looking for “an incredibly boring white guy.”

The idea that one horrible female candidate ought to rule out other female candidates of any kind seems just a tad unfair. They are half the population! Nobody thought the George W. Bush disaster disqualified men from being the next nominee (or even some small subset of men, like southern men or dumb men).
