Every June, the Coney Island Mermaid Parade fills the boardwalk at the end of the F train with fantastical creatures and costumes. There are, of course, mermaids galore clad in all manner of shiny, scaly fabric, body paint, and befeathered headwear, but at this year’s parade, held on Saturday, there were also a few other standouts: little kids in pirate costumes, tattooed drummers, and Marty Markowitz in a Hawaiian shirt. Who had the best costume? Judge for yourself, via our collection of photos from the event.
