Student Arrested After Threatening to ‘Shoot Up’ Kent State Campus

A Kent State student rings the Victory Bell to commemorate the victims of the 1970 shooting.

On Sunday, police arrested 19-year-old William Koberna for saying he was planning to “shoot up” the campus of Kent State University, where he’s a sophomore. Last week school officials discovered a profanity-laced tweet directed at the school’s president, which ended, “I’m shooting up your school ASAP.” He’s facing a felony charge of inducing panic and another for aggravated menacing, as well as possible expulsion by the university. So far there are no reports that this is another potential Aurora shooting copycat, but it’s disturbing nonetheless.
