Despite temperatures in the mid-nineties, over 3,000 very dedicated crazy people competed in the New York City Triathlon, which requires participants to jump into the Hudson River at 5:50 a.m. for a 1,500-meter swim, followed by a 40-kilometer bike ride up the West Side Highway, followed by a 10-kilometer run in Central Park. Joanna Chitko, who placed fourth among the women, shared her tips for success with DNA Info: “It’s all about getting the right balance between electrolytes and salt.” This is also true of the trip we just made to the bodega.
