Alabama Court Is Not OK With Man Who Buried Deceased Wife in Front Yard

An unusual clash over individual and states’ rights sparked in the front lawn of 73-year-old Alabama man James Davis, who, to the dismay of the city of Stevenson, buried his wife Patsy alongside their log home in 2009, the Associated Press reportsA  judge ordered Davis to disinter Patsy and move her to a licensed cemetery; however, Davis has appealed the decision, arguing that the grave constitutes a “family burial plot” that the city may not regulate. While it probably won’t hold up in court, Davis himself made a compelling argument: “Good Lord, they’ve raised pigs in their yard, there’s horses out the road here in a corral in the city limits, they’ve got other gravesites here all over the place.”
