Obama Praises Friend George Clooney for Not Being Too Clingy

Last week, we were mildly concerned that the thin line between news and entertainment had totally dissolved when President Obama launched a serious defense of Joe Biden’s “chains” gaffe in interviews with People and Entertainment Tonight. Over the weekend, Politico explained that the White House has been purposely focusing on lighter outlets, but we were still relieved to see a newly released bit of the Obamas’ ET interview in which they discuss a more fitting topic: why we don’t see more of their friend George Clooney around the White House.

The president explains:

He’s very protective about not bothering me. And he’s also sensitive to the fact that, you know, that if he’s around a lot, then somehow it’ll be tagged as ‘Obama hanging out with Hollywood stars,’ and that’s not who he is. But he’s a good person.”

It might also have something to do with the First Lady repeatedly pointing out that Clooney is “cute.”
