Police arrested a man in Westlake, Ohio, on Saturday for allegedly bringing a loaded 9mm Glock handgun, four knives, and two magazines with sixteen to seventeen rounds of ammunition each into a theater for a Dark Knight Rises showing, reports the Associated Press. Scott A. Smith’s attorney claims that his client’s weapons were intended for self-defense: “With the recent shooting in Colorado, and the other incidents around the country in regards to threats, he felt that he needed protection.” A theater manager and an off-duty police officer working security stopped Smith, who did not have a concealed carry permit. He is currently in jail and is expected to be indicted on yet-to-be-determined weapons charges.
