This afternoon, in the extended aftermath of Mitt Romney’s “47 percent” video, New York’s Jonathan Chait on NOW With Alex Wagner noted the verbal sleight of hand employed by the Romney camp, talking about “income taxes” but knowing voters could hear that as “all taxes.” “Most people think of income taxes, they think of taxes,” Chait said. “[Voters] think, Well I pay taxes, I’m one of those people, so no one’s going to think they are the freeloaders he’s targeting.
