DNC Accidentally Used Images of Russian Ships During Veterans Tribute

On the final day of the Democratic National Convention last week, retired Admiral John Nathman took the stage during a tribute to veterans, while the monitor behind showed him an impressive composite of images, with a row of war ships front and center. The only problem:  The ships actually belong to a Russian Black Sea Fleet. Experts for the Navy Times enumerated several items including the design of the ships’ radars that indicate the vessels pictured most certainly do not belong to the U.S. military. “An immediate apology [from the committee] would be very nice,” said Rob Barker, a former electronics warfare technician for the Navy. “Maybe acknowledge the fact that yes, they screwed up.” Consider this the DNC’s Walter Reed Middle School moment that vexed John McCain in 2008. And speaking of McCain’s campaign, you know who would have had the wherewithal — thanks to her physical proximity — to identify Russia’s ships?
