Construction on a $97 million Donald Trump–developed golf course on top of a closed landfill in the Bronx has caused a spike in dangerous methane gas in wells near homes in the surrounding residential area, the Daily News reports. On Tuesday, Bronx councilman James Vacca has called a hearing about the matter and will ask the Department of Environmental Conservation to explain the uptick in gas levels, which may be resulting from construction on top of the methane-producing garbage that used to fill the area. Not what they intended, but explosive methane would make a unique hazard.
