For the first time, American officials and their Iranian counterparts will sit down for negotiations on the country’s nuclear weapons program. The talks — described as the result of “intense, secret exchanges” that began right after President Obama took office — will not take place until after the election, as the Iranians “want to know with whom they would be negotiating.” And — just like that! — Monday’s foreign policy debate got a whole lot more interesting. Update: Nevermind! American and Iranian officials have said that they have no plans to negotiate.
