Apparently DNA’s half-life is about 521 years, and it becomes entirely unreadable after about 1.5 million years. “This confirms the widely held suspicion that claims of DNA from dinosaurs and ancient insects trapped in amber are incorrect,” says the University of Sydney’s Simon Ho, the world’s biggest buzzkill.
