It’s unclear, but he certainly isn’t against fueling speculation about the possibility. On Tuesday reporters asked if the mayor would use his newly formed super-PAC to fund his preferred replacement’s campaign. “It’s a long ways away. And I’ve got to think long and hard,” Bloomberg said. “I’ve got to be mayor right up through and make sure there’s a transition,” he said. “So what I really want to do, and how much I can do, how appropriate it is, I haven’t really thought about. But there’s plenty of time to do that. Right now I’m worried about Nov. 6.” In other words, Bloomberg won’t have an answer for quite a while, but in the meantime anyone considering a run should feel free to start sucking up.
