Now that Mark Suben has won his election for district attorney of Cortland County, where he’s served since 2008, he might as well tell everyone that, yes, that was him starring in adult films like Bedroom Bedlam and Babes in Joyland. “Recently materials have been circulated alleging that I was involved in the adult film industry about 40 years ago in New York. Those allegations are true,” said Suben at a press conference this afternoon, in reference to reports and a YouTube exposé outing him as porn star Gus Thomas. “I was an actor in adult films for a short period in the early ‘70s. I was also an actor in other venues including off Broadway, soap operas and commercial advertisements.”
As his November 6 bid for reelection approached, Suben denied reports linking him to an unsavory past. “I regret that and I apologize for it,” he said today in a statement, after which he refused to take questions. “I was shocked and embarrassed to be confronted with this so many years later. I was embarrassed for my family and friends who have stood by me. I also denied my actions to my family, my friends and my staff.”
You almost have to admire the chutzpah on this guy, baldly lying until after everyone votes and then just, um, slipping it in.
