After undergoing five heart attacks, having a battery-powered heart pump installed in 2010, and getting a heart transplant earlier this year, Dick Cheney says the fact that he’s alive is “nothing short of a miracle.” Now he’s writing a book about his extensive experience with heart disease with his cardiologist and his daughter Liz Cheney. “It explains and talks about all the developments in cardiology by going through my own case,” the former VP tells the Associated Press. “I’m alive today because of the tremendous advances that have been made.” The currently untitled book is due in the fall and Cheney says it will be completely “non-political,” though surely he’ll find some way to rile his critics during the book tour.
