Halfway through a packed afternoon service at Newtown, Connecticut’s St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church — which hosted the first large memorial in the wake of the Friday shootings — a priest asked worshippers to clear out after someone called a church phone and repeatedly shouted, “I’m coming to kill, I’m coming to kill.” A dozen police officers in camouflage SWAT gear soon arrived to search the building, where they ultimately determined there was no real danger. “I’m just sad that these people needed to be at Mass today and that this had to happen,” said the priest. “This is just hard for parents to be able to explain to their children.”
