Four kids who wrote letters to the president after Newtown were invited to the White House today to stand in the background and look adorable as President Obama announced a slate of new gun-control proposals. Despite his concern for protecting children, however, Obama proceeded to set a terrible example by recklessly high-fiving each child instead of tapping them with his elbow. All in all, as far as the health and safety of America’s youth goes, we’d say the event was a wash.
