A 38-year-old man has been charged with criminal trespassing for ascending to the top of the New Jersey roller coaster swept into the ocean by Hurricane Sandy, where he proceeded to proudly display an American flag. Christopher Angulo, whose mother described him to NBC New York as a daredevil, canoed out to the underwater wreckage prepared to stay for a few days, with three duffel bags full of food and clothes. He told police he “did it for America,” so we salute him and hope he’s safe and warm now.
