CBS New York Anchor Arrested for Allegedly Choking Wife

Rob Morrison’s mug shot.

Rob Morrison, who anchors CBS 2 News “This Morning” and “News at Noon,” wasn’t on the New York station today, and it seems he wasn’t just off for President’s Day. Early on Sunday morning, Morrison was arrested for allegedly choking his wife Ashley Morrison, a reporter for CBS MoneyWatch, at their home in Darien, Connecticut. Police say they arrived at the home around 1:30 a.m. after Ashley Morrison’s mother called to report a domestic violence incident. “Upon arrival, it was ascertained that Morrison had been becoming increasingly belligerent toward his wife during the course of the evening, culminating in his choking her by the neck with both hands,” says a police press release.

Officers saw red marks on Ashley Morrison’s neck, and a mug shot posted by the Darien Times shows Rob Morrison with bruises and blood on his face. Police say that “while being processed, [Rob Morrison] made verbal threats to do his wife additional harm, which were overheard by arresting officers.”

Rob Morrison was charged with second-degree strangulation, second-degree threatening and disorderly conduct, and is free on a $100,000 bond. The couple said in a joint statement that they’re “confident that a full review of this matter will show that the allegations have been greatly exaggerated.”
