It was revealed last week that with the backing of the American Crossroads super-PAC, Karl Rove and top GOP donors are launching a campaign against certain Republican primary candidates they consider unelectable. This is meant to help the GOP establishment challenge Tea Party groups, but New York’s Frank Rich tells Rachel Maddow that Rove’s probably too late. “The party is what it is,” says Rich. “This idea that it’s something else is a fantasy and they’re going to have to get real about it and face the party they have and change it from within, not with stunts involving spending money on advertising.”
