Scientists Find Lost Continent (or, at the Very Least, Some Weird Sand)

Photo: iStockphoto

Scientists believe they’ve found a lost continent in the Indian Ocean*, one that was wedged between Madagascar and India about 85 million years ago. The discovery is based on an analysis of the sand on the island of Mauritius, but, long story short, the lost continent is far beneath the ocean and is way too old to have any cool ancient ruins like the ones in the adjacent stock photo, so it doesn’t really do any of us any good.

*Indian, not Pacific.
