
Gov. Andrew Cuomo found some takers for his offer to buy New Yorkers’ destroyed, flood-prone properties: A group of 141 homeowners in Staten Island’s Oakwood Beach neighborhood “were overjoyed by Cuomo’s announcement,” the New York Daily News reports. So now they’re set to become a pilot program for Cuomo’s plan, receiving their homes’ pre-storm value, plus another 10 percent if their home is in an area the state wants to return to nature, and another 5 percent if they relocate on Staten Island.
