Thanks to Sandy, It’s ‘Restaurant Week’ for Rats

In case you, like us, were wondering what ever happened to the city’s underground legions of sewer and subway rats now that Hurricane Sandy is well in the rearview, some plain-spoken exterminators are here to tell you that many of them moved to the surface after all, and discovered it was awesome. “There’s so much garbage out in the streets these days. Renovations because of the flood. Christmas trees. These things make it worse. For them, it’s Restaurant Week,” Timothy Wong, a partner in a Lower East Side pest control firm, told The New York Times. And in case you still have an appetite, he’ll remind you how he can tell a rat has been in your car: “All I know is that there was rat feces and a Starbucks cookie and the bag was all chewed up.”
