
Among the seven candidates vying for a D.C. city council seat in a special election next month is Elissa Silverman, a former reporter for the Washington Post. Her past employment at the paper, however, did not help her win the editorial board’s endorsement, but only because Silverman’s “past advocacy for the millionaire’s tax and expansion of the sales tax would, we fear, translate into new burdens on residents,” not because she forgot their names at the holiday party or something like that, although who knows.
