A Category 2 hurricane when it hit the southeastern Louisiana coast Wednesday, Zeta was still a tropical storm Thursday morning with maximum sustained winds of 50 mph about 100 miles northeast of Asheville, North Carolina. The storm inundated some areas with flash flooding, sheared the awning off a gas station, blew a building’s wall open and caused an apartment’s roof to collapse, injuring one person inside, CBS News correspondent Danya Bacchus reports. Hundreds of schools canceled classes or planned to open late across the region.
