New MTA Chief Warns of Another Fare Hike in 2015

Yes, again. Recently selected MTA chairman Thomas Prendergast has all sorts of work to do, including years more of Hurricane Sandy repairs and potentially installing motion censors to prevent subway deaths, but most New Yorkers only care about fares: “At the end of the day, there isn’t a transit system in the nation that operates in the black,” Prendergast told the Daily News in a welcome column laying out his plans. “It’s our job to do what we can to keep the need for additional revenues as small as possible.” So don’t plan on loving this guy either.
