City’s New Anti-Salt Subway Ads Are Shockingly Tame

Department of Health and Mental Hygiene

Compared to the anti-soda ads that gagged riders with pictures of soda bottles pouring out globs of fat, or the anti-smoking ads featuring testimonials by amputees, the city’s new anti-sodium ad is as subdued as unsalted crackers. It simply reminds people to read labels to see how much salt they’re getting. The city tried to go more dramatic with its last round of anti-salt ads, which wound up being just pictures of products with a bunch of salt around them. Pretty underwhelming. So perhaps embracing the sobriety of label-reading is the way to go.
