Following up the arrest of an NYPD captain for domestic violence, a second local officer, Detective Edwin Vargas, was charged today with paying $4,000 to “an e-mail hacking service” for access to 43 personal accounts, including 21 affiliated with his colleagues at the NYPD. Googling something along the lines of “hackers for hire” is apparently the opposite of foolproof, believe it or not.
