People Pretty Much Ignoring the FAA’s Cell Phone Rule

A study by airline and electronics industry groups finds what most of us could probably have guessed: A lot of people blow off instructions to turn off their phones while while their planes are taking off and landing. About 30 percent have left theirs on by accident, the study found, and 21 percent just put theirs on “airplane” mode even though the official rule is to turn them off — and that’s just outside the cockpit.
