In what seems to be a slight overreaction, Jack Pawlowski was arrested for allowing his kids to play with a plastic pellet gun in Ditmars Park. Some witnesses say they initially mistook the toy for the real thing, but one woman called the police even after she figured out what was going on. “He’s brandishing a firearm and I don’t care if that firearm is plastic. That’s unacceptable,” Queensmamas blogger Leni Calas told CBS New York. City Councilman Peter Vallone said the arrest on child endangerment and other charges was “really a way to educate people” and added, “You cannot run around with a realistic looking gun.” The father remained in custody Wednesday night.
