Just when it seemed Uber (the app that can hail a taxi for you from the comfort of your bar stool) would become the way of the future as it went active Tuesday night, a judge once again halted it with a hand-written restraining order. Livery drivers had sued to stop the app in the city, where yellow cabs pick up street hails and they respond to pre-arranged calls, but last week a judge ruled the app could go forward. Now it’s stopped once again, like a taxi through Midtown.
